University entry: An introduction

Virtually all English School pupils go on to higher education at universities in Britain, with a small number choosing to go to other European countries or the USA. Securing a university place, often at a highly competitive university, is the ultimate ambition of our pupils and successful acceptance at a top university requires much more than A Level grades.

The Careers and University Entrance service offered by the School, comprises a team of dedicated professionals, headed by Dr Chris Mavrommatis, supported by Mrs Natasha Ashiotis, and the Head Teacher

Presentations and Lectures

To help pupils choose the appropriate subjects at school, and then select the best course and university for them, presentations are held during the year:

  • To assist 3rd form pupils with their option choice for the 4th form Career Advice
  • To assist 5th form pupils with their option choices for the 6th form
  • To introduce 6th form pupils to upcoming Education Fairs and inform them of special sessions that may be of interest to them
  • To inform 6th form pupils of the UCAS Application process and to provide them with relevant material to ensure a successful application
  • Career Presentations, whereby pupils can hear first-hand the realities of their chosen career.

Parents meetings

Parents meetings are organised wherebyparticipants are informed about the process of option choices and university entrance.

Morrisby Profile Testing

Our fifth form pupils had the opportunity for the first time this year to participate in the ‘Morrisby Profile', which allowed them to become more aware of their abilities, their skills and qualities and have the opportunity to discover less traditional career options.
