Adventurous Journeys during COVID-19

Students have the obligation to take all the necessary preventive and protective measures to protect their personal health and the health of other students. Students shall cooperate with the team of Adventurous Journey Supervisors and follow all their instructions, the personal hygiene measures, the personal protective measures and the measures of physical and social distancing.  

In particular students are obliged to:
 
  • Students are part of a group and they should stay with their group, avoiding any contact with participants of other groups.
  • Wash their hands regularly and thoroughly with water and soap for at least 20 seconds or if their hands are not obviously soiled, use their personal hand sanitiser. They should thoroughly wash their hands before meals.
  • Avoid touching their hands, nose and eyes; cough or sneeze into their elbow or cover their mouth and nose with a tissue when they cough or sneeze, then dispose of the tissue and finally wash their hands with water and soap or use the hand sanitiser.
  • Keep their gear in the rucksack and avoid putting any items on the ground.
  • Tents must be at least 4 metres apart. Only one participant should sleep in each tent. No sharing of tents is allowed.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as mask, gloves if they are instructed to or if they feel more comfortable by using PPE. If they wear a mask or respirator they shoud always cover both their nose and mouth.
  • Avoid touching, hugging, shaking hands or talking at a very close distance (less than 2 metres) with other participants for more than 15 minutes.
  • Keep a distance of at least 2 metres from other participants when they hike, when they stop to have a meal or a rest break during the hike.
  • Use their hand sanitiser immediately after they touch an item given to them by another participant or an Adventurous Journey Supervisor such as a map, compass etc.
  • Clean their personal belongings with disinfectant or disinfecting wipes.
  • If they have symptoms such as a runny nose, cough, breathing difficulty, fever then they should immediately inform one of the Adventurous Journey Supervisors.
