The English School volunteers plan to visit The Mitraniketan School in India
Trip to Kerala, India
June 30th - July 14th
In the first 2 weeks of July, 2018, twenty-five students from The English School together with some English School parents and teachers, will be embarking on an exciting journey to Kerala, Southern India, on a two week volunteer mission.
They will be staying in a Guest House in Mitraniketan, a non- profit organisation, whose main goal is to help support rural communities to break the cycle of poverty.
They will be involved in a range of volunteer work opportunities at the Mitraniketan School. Most will be working as Teacher Assistants, helping to teach basic English and grammar, nursery games, dance and songs/ music. Some will be helping in the Arts (Theatre/ Sculpture/ Painting) or be involved with sports. Others will engage in designing newsletters and writing Articles for Fund Raising and others will have the option of assisting in agricultural projects, or in the bakery.
Our English School volunteers will gain exposure to a different style of education and to a rich culture. They will learn how a rural community operates in its natural setting and experience realistic Indian life and local customs.
