The Leventis Gallery may be closed to the public for now, but the sound of live music emanating from the gallery is a sign that the arts are always alive. Eleonora Savvidou (year 6) and Sophia Kleopa (year 1) formed a new cello duet during the lockdown and their harmonious sounds were a breath of fresh air in the hot, Summer afternoon
Positioned in the Paris Collection Room on the first floor of the Gallery, the cellos performed Waltz No.2 by Shostakovich. The combination of music with impressionistic paintings by Monet, Sisley and Luce was a feast for the senses. The performance was live-streamed on the Gallery’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. If you missed it, you can watch their performance on The Music Department’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7_DDgqLLfw or click below to watch.
Needless to say, they got an invitation for another performance at the Gallery in the Autumn!
