Big congratulations to Andreas Lordos, Odysseas Hilides, Stelios Sycallides, Hraycha Zakaryan, Panayiotis Fatta, Julius Vassiliades, Charalambos Zacharia, Christos Falas and Marios Pastides who have already discovered asteroids this year.
Asteroid Day is a global movement held every 30th of June, on the anniversary of the Tunguska Event. In 1908 a small object from outer space, most probably an asteroid, caused devastation in Tunguska, Siberia. Asteroid Day was founded by Astrophysicist Dr Brian May who was also the guitarist of the rock band Queen. https://asteroidday.org/.
Ms Demetriou will be talking about Asteroid Day on RIK Classic FM at 12.30 on Friday 29th June, and Asteroid Day Coordinator, Mr Troullias will be on Discovery Science at 13.50 on Friday 29th June representing Cyprus. 2 other Asteroid Day events, coordinated by KITION PLANETARIUM & OBSERVATORY are being held in Cyprus this weekend.
