All students who apply to Russell Group institutions must meet the entry requirements.  Therefore, what helps to make The English School applicant stand out and subsequently secure places at some of the most competitive institutions from around the world?

English School students are committed and independent in their style of learning, and are not afraid to immerse themselves in the challenges of university life. They are students who can demonstrate their academic abilities beyond the curriculum (A level grades) and are applicants who possess intellectual curiosity. They are motivated, confident, independent thinkers with good critical thinking.  People who can challenge conventional views and who can communicate effectively. They are potential future leaders, individuals who have led teams with integrity.  They are also in a position to have the ability to approach challenges creatively and the ability to apply logical reasoning, qualities which universities may be looking for in some of their courses.  These are just some of the characteristics and skills many of our students possess; virtues that grades alone cannot always demonstrate.

Recent success of Cypriot students, specifically from The English School, at securing places at leading universities, confirm that a productive academic programme and correct guidance plays an important role in getting admitted into these Universities.  Graduates of The English School who are studying, or have studied at Russell Group universities, have helped to prove to Universities that its students will bring with them many of the above qualities.
Important achievements worth noting include the fact that Imperial College London, considered by many as the ‘MIT’ of Europe, ranks as the School’s 2nd most popular university destination (5-year period), 3rd in their 2016 entry destinations.  In the 2-year period 2014-2015, of the offers made by Cambridge University to Cyprus, 40% were to English School students.  The London School of Economics’ (LSE) has an EU undergraduate student population of approximately 10%, making competition for places highly competitive, yet The English School counts LSE within its top 10 most popular university destinations, with 31 students receiving an offer of a place during the period 2012-2016.

The English School believes that the all-round education it offers acts as an ideal foundation to facilitate access to top universities around the world.
