Led by experts in the field of Global Surgery, the ‘Global Surgery Conference’ focuses on current collaborative practices that have led to substantial improvements in providing access to high quality, safe surgical care throughout developing nations.

It is here that a small number of researchers are invited to present their research on Surgery and to compete for the highly competitive Best Research Presentation Award.  We are happy to announce that Iakovos is the recipient of this award.
This is not the first time Iakovos has excelled in his chosen field.  Currently a fourth year Medical Student at King’s College London, Iakovos completed his pre-clinical studies with Merit, ranking in the top 10% of his cohort.  He later undertook a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, not only graduating with First Class Honours, but also receiving an award for ‘Best Performing Student’.  Iakovos is conducting research at the Centre for the Developing Brain at St Thomas’ Hospital, with a focus on foetal brain imaging. He is the leading author of numerous scientific publications and has also been recognised for his passion in providing medical education. Currently Vice-President of the Radiology Society of King’s College London, and Module Leader in International undergraduate surgical conferences, we have no doubt that Iakovos has a bright future ahead of him.
