Charis Manganis (née Demetriou) graduated from The English School in 2005. She read Medicine
at Brasenose College, Oxford with an intercalated degree in infection and immunity. In 2008 she
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Sciences and in 2011 with a Bachelor’s in Medicine
and Surgery. She is currently an academic foundation (junior) doctor in Oxford, and from August
2013, will be starting an Academic Clinical Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Oxford University,
whilst working in Oxford hospitals and having some time put aside for research and teaching. Her
research is in autoimmune pancreatitis and Hepatitis C, and clinical interests include gastroin-
testinal bleeding, colorectal cancer and healthcare of the elderly. Charis lives in Oxford with her
husband who is an artist and an academic.
