Design and Technology is
unique in the school cur-
riculum. It is the subject di-
rectly concerned with the
students’ capacity to design
and make, to solve prob-
lems with the use of materi-
als and to develop an
understanding of the signifi-
cance of technology.
A technological approach is
used to achieve solutions
that satisfy sound design cri-
teria and a design approach,
to achieve solutions that
satisfy sound technological
criteria. Students should be-
come confident and compe-
tent in designing and
producing a range of tech-
nological products of good
quality and evaluating and
improving their own tech-
nological products and
those designed by others.
