The English School Students Represent Cyprus at the 43rd Balkan Mathematical Olympiad

The English School congratulates its students on their achievements at the 43rd Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, held in Thessaloniki.

Special congratulations go to Philippos Rouvas, a student of the School’s Mathematics Enrichment Programme, who earned a Silver Medal at this international competition. His result is exceptional within the history of Cyprus’ participation in the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad: only four students from Cyprus have ever received a Silver Medal, and Cyprus has earned only six medals in total.

Philippos’ achievement reflects a high level of mathematical ability, sustained preparation, and disciplined problem-solving. It is also a major distinction for The English School and for the students and teachers involved in the Enrichment Programme.

The School also congratulates Su Zilin, currently in Year 4, who was selected as one of the youngest members of the Cyprus national team. Representing Cyprus at this level at such a young age is a considerable achievement and marks him as a student of notable promise.

These results continue a strong pattern of success for The English School’s Mathematics Enrichment Programme. For the fourth consecutive year, students from the School’s Year 4 Enrichment classes have been selected to represent Cyprus on the national team.

The English School extends its congratulations to Philippos Rouvas and Su Zilin, as well as to the teachers, coaches, and families who supported their preparation.
