On the 5th April our Debate Team headed off to represent Cyprus at the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships, held this year in Sydney, Australia. Our students achieved success in several categories.
The team are (from left to right), Eros Nicolaou, Lucas James Irwin, James Morphakis, Rashel Alpay, Phaedros Pantelides and Panayiota- Elena Avraam.
Our team competed over the five days in four categories of competition - Paired Debate, Impromptu Speaking, Persuasive or After-Dinner Speaking and Interpretive Reading.
Our students reached finals in: After Dinner Speaking and in Interpretive Reading and the outcome was:
Lucas James Irwin is World Champion in Interpretive Reading.
James Morphakis is World Champion in After Dinner Speaking while Eros Nicolaou took second place.
