One of our Erasmus+ Accreditation targets is computer literacy development and technology use in teaching and learning.

This is a school-wide target for teachers and students.  Our goal is to move towards using computers and technology as integral tools to enhance teaching and learning and prepare students more effectively for further study and the workplace.  Staff who receive training will act as "champions" in our school, passing on information and ideas to other staff, mentoring and leading the move to a more interactive learning environment.

During the week of May 30- June 4 2022, one of our colleagues, Ms Marilena Neocleous, a Greek teacher, who is a member of the Teaching and Learning community of our school and a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, participated in the course "Digital turn: How to make your school more digital" which took place in Utrecht and Amsterdam in the Netherlands, a course funded by the Erasmus+ Accreditation program.

Ms Neocleous introduced The English School and its current use of digital technology and talked about the school's aspiration to become an innovative digital school.  Throughout the course, the trainers, Dr Martin Laanpere and Mr James Sunney Quaicoe, presented different innovative digital schools in Estonia and other European countries, provided evidence-based data on developing a whole school digital literacy policy and facilitated the evaluation of the various participating schools' digital maturity.

Participants, educators from 10 European countries, exchanged their views and personal experiences on using digital technologies in their schools and countries and collaborated to develop their schools'  innovation reports.  All participants visited the "Hervord Lyceum Zuid", a secondary school in Amsterdam, where the "one device per child"  policy is applied.  There, they had the opportunity to interact with other educators and the school's management and experience first-hand how digital technology is used in their classrooms.

Overall, it was a beneficial course with essential takeaways on how digital technology can enhance Teaching and Learning.
