World Space Week is an UN-recognised event that promotes space science and technology to improve our lives on Earth. It is the largest annual space event in the world and this year’s theme was “Women in Space”.

To fit with this theme our students learnt about the pioneering female astronauts of the past, the present and the future during tutor time.  We were given a special recorded video message of encouragement from Eleonora Kaiser, who is a Cypriot analogue astronaut, taking part in an experiment at the LUNARES research centre in Poland and on 17.10.21 we took a virtual tour with her around the experiment.

Other events included safe solar observations every second break and the lovely observation night on 15th October, which was extremely well attended, especially by Year 1!  Many thanks to the Astronomy Club students who helped at this event.
