The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Presentation Ceremony
On Thursday 19th June 2025 we held the annual Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Presentation Ceremony in the school Hall.
On the occasion of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Presentation Ceremony this year, we were honoured to welcome back to the school H.E. the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr Alexis Vafeades. Mr Vafeades, an English School graduate, was pleased to attend the event and proudly presented the new Gold Awardees with their certificates and pin badges.
We were delighted to be joined by the ESL 2000 Gold Award Group Alpha (Constantinos Demetriades, Nasia Kalaika, Doros Polydorou, Yiannis Theodorou, Alexia Yiangou and Stelios Yiatros) during the ceremony. These six students, in their final year at the school in 2000, chose to construct a Centenary Monument as their Gold Award Residential Project. The monument includes a time capsule, which was opened after this year’s Award Presentation Ceremony—25 years after it was sealed.
The Award programme at our school has enjoyed an exceptionally successful year, with students rising to the challenge and excelling across all components. The increased participation highlights both the programme’s growing popularity and its impact in nurturing personal development. This year’s accomplishments have not only equipped students with valuable life skills but also instilled a strong sense of confidence and achievement that will serve them well in the future. The recent celebration was a tribute to their dedication, perseverance, and success. So far this academic year, an impressive 279 Awards have been completed — 147 Bronze, 125 Silver, and 7 Gold.
