ICT in Years 1 - 3

Students in Year s 1-3 follow a curriculum programme to address some of the key areas from the National ICT Strategy used in the United Kingdom.
They will be taught the fundamental skills of basic ICT applications, with their knowledge of more advanced skills built over the course of the key stage. They are encouraged to experiment with ICT applications in order to familiarise themselves with the functions of different software and hardware. They will be encouraged to develop problem-solving skills through the completion of short, focused tasks and projects. These projects will often require them to consider the needs of different users of ICT.
Year 1
Students cover the following themes and concepts using a variety of software applications:
  • An introduction to E-safety
  • Presenting Information for a specific audience
  • Strategies for finding information from a variety of sources
  • Assessing validity, reliability and bias
  • Project based learning activities
Years 2 – 3
Students cover the following themes and concepts using a variety of software applications:
  • E-Safety multimedia project
  • Online research strategies
  • Web Design
  • Collaborative learning and working
  • Mathematical modelling
  • Data manipulation
