Welcome

Securing a place at a selective University is the ultimate ambition of our students, however, acceptance at a top University requires much more than just good A-Level grades. For this reason, the Careers & University Department has a structured programme of Careers Education Guidance that is embedded in the School's curriculum, and supports its students to become independent individuals, ready to enter the world of higher education and beyond.

We introduce the Department to our students as early as Year 3(9) using a mix of Careers related classes, and after-school workshops and events. This is so that students can familiarise themselves with our Team, but also to ensure that they have the skills necessary to make informed future progression decisions. It is at this stage that we introduce them to the School's subscription for the Unifrog platform -
Unifrog is a one-stop-shop for finding educational opportunities taught in English, anywhere in the world.

The Department's programme offers support in choosing those increasingly important iGCSE and A-Level subjects, and this includes individual 'options' meetings for each student. Year 5(11) students receive access to the Morrisby Profile test - Morrisby uses a combination of psychometric assessments and questionnaires that demonstrate where their strengths and preferences lie - we often refer to their feedback report to facilitate our meetings. Parents and Guardians also have an important role to play in this process, therefore, presentations and Q&A sessions are made available, as well as opportunities to make an appointment to discuss their child's future plans.
In January of each year we introduce our senior students to the Department's 'Internship Support Programme', which offers them the opportunity to secure a placement or work experience at one of our providers. This helps to foster a timely and realistic understanding of what is involved in their future career, will enrich their University applications and help them decide whether such a career would indeed suit them. We are always pleased to hear from employers who would like to discuss opportunities to engage with our careers programme and you can reach us through email or by calling +357 22799396/7.

Once in Year 6(12), students are immersed in a programme of events and sessions to ensure that their University applications are truly representative of their unique skillset. The programme includes Admission Test preparation classes, Interview Preparation, a Personal Statement Advisor, as well as individual University application guidance for applying to courses across the globe. Specialist sessions for applying to the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge (Oxbridge), to competitive business schools in Europe, as well as to those choosing Medicine, are also included in our programme. We are also proactive in ensuring that those who are required to enter the Military upon graduation are well-placed to apply to University by offering 'Apply' sessions before they graduate, and/or by supporting them with deferred entry applications. The Department is renowned for its success in helping students secure places at Universities at top institutions across Europe, Canada, as well as the USA, and a USA Advisor is available to support entrance specifically to American Universities. The School's Leavers Destinations can be viewed here, and you can meet our students at 'ESL - The English School Leavers'.

Finally, a number of Higher Education and Employer encounters are organised throughout the year, either as part of the timetable or as an after school event, and for many of these we are thankful for the support of a highly active Alumni network. Details of our Careers ProgrammeStrategy and Timeline can be viewed by clicking on the relevant links, and be sure to visit Careers e-news for the Department's quarterly newsletter where you will find interesting articles and a chance to hear from our Graduates. We hope you enjoy reading the Department's pages, and feel free to reach out via Who We Are if you need more information.
