A Level Chemistry
The Edexcel courses offered are the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) GCE (8CH0) and the Advanced GCE (9CH01). The AS chemistry course offered is the new two year linear programme offered by Edexcel, which will be examined for the first time in 2017.
The syllabus followed at A Level offers students the opportunity not only to study chemistry, but to explore the application of chemistry on a local and global perspective, thus providing the students with a better understanding of chemistry and how it impacts their lives.
Successful completion of these Advanced level courses in Chemistry offers students several routes for progression. These routes include:
- Progression on to a range of higher education courses, including degrees (eg in medicine, life sciences, engineering
- Direct entry into employment, especially into scientific and related sectors
- Progression on to the next level of vocational qualification, especially into scientific or related areas
